Syd Bone

Chief Executive Officer BCom (Hons), FIAA

Syd joined CP2 in September 2010. Syd is a proven growth-oriented Executive with extensive change agent experience in Australia and Asia, and is known for his thought leadership within the investment industry. Syd was CEO of Victorian Funds Management Corporation for five years, which managed A$30 billion on behalf of the State of Victoria. Previously he was the Managing Director Asia-Pacific, Baring Asset Management for seven years, and a Principal at Towers Perrin consultants for 17 years working in Melbourne, Hong Kong and New York. He is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Australian Centre for Financial Studies which fosters links between industry and academia. Until recently Syd was also a Director of the Canadian based International Centre for Pension Management.

Sally Holloway

Chairman, Co-Founder BA, GAICD

Sally is co-founder and Executive Chairman of CP2. Sally is focused on developing the investment philosophy and values of CP2 since 1997. Sally has over 20 years experience in investment execution and operating investment portfolios for the long-term investor and is an advocate of responsible corporate governance. She is also a member of the CP2 Investment Committee and Human Capital Committee. Sally is a board member of the Melanoma Institute Australia and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Peter Hicks

Head of Asset Management M(Econ) Transport, B Town Planning (Transport & Infrastructure)

Peter has over 25 years experience in infrastructure management and finance. Peter recently held the role of CFO at Leighton Contractors and prior to this held the positions of Executive GM Investment and Facility Management and GM Infrastructure Investments. Peter led every major PPP bid across transport infrastructure and major infrastructure projects. Peter held Chairman roles on Leighton’s infrastructure investments including Sydney’s Cross City Tunnel and Transmission Gully Road in Wellington in NZ. Other projects included ConnectEast and Brisbane Airport Link.

Peter was a Board member on other major infrastructure investments including RiverCity Motorway and the M7. Peter led asset management activity eg contract management, revenue enhancement and risk management on tollroad investments. He was responsible for overseeing A$7bn annual expenditure and major support services to run Leighton’s infrastructure investments. Peter has also held roles with Rail Access Corporation NSW as Group GM Freight, GM Operations and GM Network Assets. Prior to joining CP2, Peter was an advisor to the Infrastructure Investment sector including Leighton’s tollroad assets and one of the Canberra light rail consortia.

David Thompson

Head of Analysis & Investments BCom, MBA, FCPA, MAICD

David has over 30 years experience in finance and the Infrastructure investment sector, and has worked in or consulted to Infrastructure/Utilities, Ports, Airports, Oil and Gas, Electricity, Water, Resources, Manufacturing, Mining, Transport, Telecommunications, Financial Services and Funds Management. He previously led the Queensland Office of a National Valuation Practice and was a Corporate Finance Director at one of the big 4 accounting firms. During his career, David has offered valuation services to public and private businesses across a wide range of industries to meet their decision management, compliance and transaction advisory needs. This involved regular valuations for unlisted infrastructure assets for Fund Managers as well as purchase price allocations, impairment tests, cost of capital reviews, financial model builds and reviews.

David has held executive positions as Head of Finance and Corporate Development leading mergers and acquisitions for a large national infrastructure firm and an international steel company. He has run his own consulting business offering valuation services, strategic consulting, business plans and financial analysis and modelling to a range of investors and infrastructure asset managers.

Professor Robert (Bob) Officer

Director, Co-Founder MBA PhD

Bob co-founded CP2 in 1997. Bob was previously Professor of Finance at Melbourne Business School and has been CP2’s valuation expert since 1997. His expertise and research includes corporate finance, valuation, investment appraisal, foreign exchange management, capital markets, industrial organisation and acquisitions. Bob has been integral to Australia’s long term savings philosophy.

Roland Sleeman

Advisory Commitee B.Eng (Mech), MBA

Roland has over 34 years’ experience in the oil and gas, utilities and infrastructure sectors, advising government and business within these sectors across Australia.  Roland has served in a number of senior management roles, including Eastern Star Gas as Chief Commercial Officer.  His experience ranges from management of the gas sales agreements upon which the North West Shelf Project was founded, through to management of gas production and gas transmission pipeline activities, including as General Manager of the Goldfields Gas Transmission Pipeline at AGL, WA.  Prior to joining Eastern Star Gas, Roland provided consulting services to clients including ACCC, Alcoa, Gorgon Gas and CS Energy.

Roland has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), a Master of Business Administration and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ken Dawson

Advisory Commitee CA

Ken has over 30 years of accounting, finance and managerial experience. Ken has acted in the capacity of Financial Controller, Management Accountant, Company Secretary, CFO, General Manager and CEO for various Australian and New Zealand based companies.

Since arriving in Australia in 2001, he has been involved in the Toll Road industry and now has more than 13 years experience in the Toll Road sector at senior levels. General Manager of Airport Motorway Ltd (2002 – 2007), the entity responsible for the Eastern Distributor, CFO for Sydney Roads Group (2006-2007) when MIG transferred their toll road assets to Sydney Roads Group , an entity that was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and CEO of CrossCity Motorway Pty Ltd (2007-2014) the entity responsible for Sydney’s CrossCity Tunnel.

Ken was Chairman of the Australian Toll Road Owners Group (March 2004 – May 2007), which manages the electronic tag interoperability on Australian toll roads.

Ken is also a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand

Neil McDermott

Neil has more than 35 years’ experience in Corporate Finance, Strategy and Corporate Advisory roles. Neil has held roles as Chairman, Integral Energy Australia Limited and Special Advisor to Ernt & Young’s Energy, Water & Utilities Advisory Group. His corporate career includes roles as Partner with Arthur Andersen and executive roles with Andersen Consulting and Andersen Corporate Finance. Neil has lectured in Finance at the UNSW and the Master of Applied Finance at Macquarie University. Neil has strong Corporate Finance/Advisory experience within Energy, Water Transportation, General Infrastructure and Resources and has advised various Governments on Industry Reform, Privatisation and Investment issues in Australia, China, Japan, Korea and New Zealand.

Neil holds a Master of Commerce (Finance & Accounting), Master of Engineering Science (Systems) and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Australian Institute of Management and is an Invited Fellow of the Institute of Engineers and Australian Property Institute.

Mervyn Davies

Advisory Commitee BCom, MEng

Mervyn has over 30 years’ experience in operational and management positions in Australian T&D, including as General Manager Network at EnergyAustralia (predecessor of Ausgrid).  His Directorships include Energex, Essential Energy, TasNetworks, Aurora Energy, Western Power Corp, NT Power & Water Corp (State government electricity and distribution companies). His experience also includes 10 years as principal of an engineering consultancy specialising in engineering management and economics of electricity distribution networks.

Mervyn has also worked for key Australian Regulators (Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal in NSW and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) and Chaired significant inquiries on behalf of Northern Territory Government into electricity distribution maintenance practices.

Mervyn holds both Honours and Masters degrees in Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics). He has a Membership / affiliation with Warren Centre – Energy Committee (University of Sydney), and the Electric Energy Society of Australia.

Lachlan Benson

Advisory Committee BA Hons (European Studies), GAICD, FCILT

Lachlan has extensive experience within the international ports, maritime and logistics industries. He has had a number of Non-Executive Director roles employed across several major port businesses. During his time as Executive GM at Sydney Ports, Lachlan oversaw the Port Botany privatisation and delivery of the Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy. His career has also involved Leadership of the state wide corporate matters at the Australian Wheat Board and the role of Senior Policy Officer for Ports & Freight at NSW Ministry of Transport.

It is with much sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our founder and esteemed former Managing Director and colleague, Peter Doherty. Peter passed away in March 2011, he was a unique individual who was known for his enlightened investment philosophy that went to the core of value creating long term sustainable outcomes for investors and the communities in which they operate. Peter was known for his relentless pursuit of good corporate governance and his passion for life. Peter will be sadly missed by all those who were touched by his strong values and his passion for living. Peter’s enthusiasm and passion for life will live on as an inspiration for all. His vision remains strongly embedded at CP2.
